thanks for the comment on valley of clouds, and yes i did use a polarizer, i pretty much leave it on my 10-20 and i find it really helps in just about all situations. uneven sky darkening can be an issue, but i've found a way to generally reduce it very easily in nikon capture, and the saturation/contrast it adds is well worth it

I'm a "fan" of Gaudi's architecture and I think that Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in the world!.. so glad you liked my works ..Thank you ,Pierre for your supportive comment! ..:)
Hi Pierre, thanks so much for the comment on Golden Dahlia. I'm glad you liked it. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I haven't been online much these past several weeks.
Several of my photos are available for purchase in larger format at Shutterpoint, and some are also available in high quality framed prints at http://djholmes.imagekind.com/
Hello there Pierre, you brought me a bigtime smile when you commented on my last beach photo. I know you recognize these shots...just as I now recognize your photos. Have we become
"old timers"??! hehe..thank you again my friend..verena
The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.
Hello Pierre! I've been unable to spend the amount of time on caedes like I want too and I'm way behind on my comments. Although I haven't had the time to comment on your images lately, I have viewed, enjoyed and drawn inspiration from them. I really enjoy the portraits of local people that you have posted. They are amazing character studies. Thanks for sharing them with us.

I’m pleased that you enjoyed “Greenies Paradise” Pierre. We have unseasonably cool weather here so the birds and insects are not as active as normal for this time of year. The bright side of that is the grass is still green :-)

Thanks,Pierre, for commenting on "Living In A Soap Bubble #8". Port Sunlight is an architectural gem but you are so right about the cars. They are everywhere and you can't expect people to give up their cars just because they live somewhere beautiful.

If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
Thanks for the comment on 'girls in the grass' Pierre. It's always a pleasure to get a comment from someone whose work I admire so much.

I'm having to comment less - Caedes took over my life! I will still be looking at your posts but please bear with me if I don't comment on them all or leave thanks.
Thank you for your comments about “Chasing Chicks” Pierre. I like the expression you used “a great delicacy in the feather”. Your English is probably better than you realise.

Hi Pierre, thanks for your comments on the Grandeur. Just to clarify, the photo was not taken with wide-angle. the towers are built like steep and thin stair-like structures to give such an impression. A closer look reveals that :-)
Thanks for the comment on 'Royal Holloway' Pierre, I was really pleased with the light in that one.
Thanks to all my friends for the wonderful images I get to look at and learn from on Caedes every day. I always have something to say about them, but don't always have the time to record it. Please forgive me if I can't comment on all of your uploads.
My High Falls Sunrise 2 image was taken downstream from the falls at High Fall, Ga. There is a crane fishing on the left bank. Thank you Pierre for taking the time to view and comment on it.

What a delight...my having noticed your visit to 'The Colors of a Farm'...and especially during such a busy time as now.....when everybody is so preoccupied with their busy shopping days...and many more things that must be done....;o)
I sure appreciate your time spent in stopping by...and hope to see you grace my pages again....thank you....
hey. thanks for your... honest... comment on my latest photo. I have cleaned my lense, but it seems like the dust is on the sensor. To be frank, I'm kinda affraid to clean the sensor! I don't want to ruin it. Do you know a good way to clean the sensor?
Thank you for your comments about “Crested Grebe with chick.” Pierre. I have never seen their courting ritual... yet. That is something to look forward too :-)

Hello my Good Friend Pierre! Thank you for such a nice comment on my Haystack photo posting. You know it means a lot to me when you enjoy one of my photos and tell me so. It's such a beautiful place, I wish you could come visit here some day. I know you would love it. I could show you around in my little red Cougar.
Thank you again Pierre. Verena

Thanks for your comments on three of my works.
In Fires of War, I did edit the picture...a lot. I made the contrast a little too high. I was running off of four hours of sleep so my sence wasn't high.
As for Bridge to Nowhere, the bridge is in a city three hours away from where I live and I think I deleted it. If I didn't, I'll rework it and see if I can't post it again.
Hi, thanks for the comments at elephant rock huck. I wasnt taking the picture so i didnt have control over the composition, this is already a slight composition between two pictures in order to gain a little perspective, and correct the horrible angle the shot was taken at.
It was in drive mode, although i didnt really have a ton of speed coming into this one, and a flat landing. It didnt end in the hospital, but i have canceled my squash and soccer games this week :(
It was really an unspectacular fall, one of my skis kinda burried its tip in the snow, and i stopped. now my knee hurts.

Don't know if you got my personal message, but I have uploaded my edited version of Green and Gold. Hope thats O.K., I think I did a good job on editing it, but we'll see :^\
Hello Pierre, well, usually we have fog in the evening here in the hills and valleys, I was surprised it was so clear, I could see all the stars, there were no city lights either. The eclipse lasted from seven pm to ten pm..I sat and watched for a while from my car..then I got tired and went home too, but I at least have a fond memoriy to look at...thank you for your words..V

Josette

Thanks. :) I'm around. I just lurk more then usual. I have to put more energy in my off-line life for the time being... I still visit and enjoy the pictures and look through some of the discussions. Nice to hear from you. See you around. :)
Thanks for commenting on my people-from-Peru shots. I have actually seen some of your Peru shots before, and those are partly what inspired me to try posting portrait shots here. Your advice is much appreciated, thank you. Also, I'll try editing "Worried?" and see if it works out.

Lol. Think that that is correct. Yes, thank you for your words on both "Good Morning" and "Requiem for a Dream".
Thought that perhaps "Good Morning" was a bit too contrasty. But, I only used the image downloaded from our site. Next time, I will see if I can work with the original file.
That said ... I appreciate you taking the time. Sincerely.
Les.

Hello there Pierre, so good to hear from you and thanks for taking time to tune in on the rework I did with the group, ~dawn awakening~ it was a fun challenge....well sort of! hehe.... I am far from a PhotoShop pro, so I tweaked and fiddled without a whole lot of background knowledge. (maybe I can learn something, eh?)
I think we can all learn something from this thread that Noah got going...it will be interesting to see where it goes!!
Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to do so anytime, the door is always open for you :=)
Have a great day!!!
Hello, thank you for the feedback. However, I have to say that it is VERY good for having been captured by a cell phone. ;) But thank you nevertheless.
Hello Pierre. Thank you for your thoughts and compliments about “The Moon Sentinel”. I don’t mind vignetting in a photo but it can be a nuisance if you need to crop one side of the photo because of the imbalance it introduces.

Hi Pierre.
Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to pass by to see Purple Orchid I wanted the flower to be further to the right but with using auto-focus I had to have it centred. I'll toy with Manual focussing when doing macro shots to see what I come up with.
Best wishes

Hi Pierre, thankyou so very much for your lovely feedback on "Sunbathing," your gallery has always been one of my favourites on this site and I'm honoured that you liked one of my images enough to stop and leave a comment. Best wishes, Kelcey.
Thank you for taking time to have a look at "Tsessebe" and "Thirsty" Thanks also for the hint on "Thirsty" (I appreciate it very much and will try it in future)
Pierre, thanks for commenting on 'Belle Tout'. I didn't like the foreground either - I think I will visit that place many times. In fact I have been back twice already....but getting light like that is not easy, especially as our summer has been stolen this year. Great to hear from you.

Hey Pierre, thanks sooo very much for the super nice words on my 'Artist Spotlight'!! It means the world to me and I sure appreciate the support, encouragement and luv!!
Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??
Thank you so much Pierre for stopping by my gallerie and for leaving such a kind comment on "Watching the Late Night Show...", I really appreciate it a lot!
Thanks for looking at 'Royal Autumn' Pierre. It wasn't as difficult to get as it looks - the deer in Richmond Park are wild but very used to people, so if you stand still for long enough they will come quite close! I hope you're having a really good Christmas.

Pierre, my friend, thank you for enjoying my Ocean photos. The beaches here are so wonderful, those days I go there, are the best therapy for my mind and heart. Thank you again. Verena
Work spares us from three evils: boredom, vice, and need.
When I posted the image of my pet in the photography animals category , I didn't realize that category was supposed to be wild or exotic animals...it just says animals. (It was immediately brought to my attention by ppigeon (Pierre) in a personal message.
You know, the whole reason we joined Caedes 3 years ago was to enjoy the interaction with fellow photographers and artists and share our images and discuss the many aspects of the art and creativity.
I look at the statistics and it says you have 2221093 members and less than 4% are active in any one given day.
My husband and I were excited about renewing our membership and recently we both renewed for 1 year each. Effective immediately, you can consider the balance a gift as I will no longer be commenting or posting any new images nor will my husband Jas and we will be removing all of our images.
The only thing I will miss are the few very, very nice people I've met here. To them I apologize and please know I've appreciated all your wonderful comments and support, and will miss our interaction.
Hi Pierre
Thanx a lot for your recent comments on Graduation day and Concentration. I do appreciate it very much as I'm quite new to "people" photography. Hope to be able to post more of them in future.

Kia Ora Pierre - I was delighted to see your comment on my Wildflowers At Dusk - thank you :)
You asked "Did you accentuate the blue? "
From memory I dont think I did any selective accentuation but did some curves adjustment on the whole image in an effort to make it look more like what my eye had seen.

Hello Pierre,
thanks for writing a comment on the eyes behind the mask.
I directed the whole shoot and had a team of 5 girls to help me.
I did not apply the paint myself, since we have a girl for each specific job on makeup, hair, paint, etc.
But the paint goes much furhter than just the face. The whole shoot took about 5 hours.
The reactions of people is very different (naturally), but I like the change of photography and to put it on Caedes.
Personally I like this very much, also because it takes the challenge a few steps further. I have to work with a team and as we practice we help each other with school projects and portfolios. So it is kind of a win win situations.
And from one shoot comes another and another...
And so I get into contact with more and more people and challenges.
Thanks!
Paul
If you can't find the words, you may as well shoot it...
Hi Pierre, thank you for taking the time to comment on my contest entry. I wasn't quite sure if it would capture the negative space idea, so I appreciate your comment all the more.

Hey Pierre , thx for the comment on Brugge ,
There was a construction crane in the background , i thought this was a elegant solution to get rid of it .
Hi Pierre - thanks for the comment on my Flic en Flac sunset shot. As to why i can live here without a DSLR - simple answers to that one. When i migrated here the camera gear was just too heavy to come with the limited airline allowance. I'm very reluctant to pay the 100-200% luxury goods import tax here to buy one and getting one sent over from abroad would most likely see it getting lost aka stolen by some ropey official :-(

thanks for your comments! Not a bigger upload, because I no longer have photoshop and I can't resize photos any other way on my mac, that I know of. Unless you know a way? I'm not sure if IPhoto allows you to resize photots.
