You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

love this picture.srength and sensitivity combined-just like a person should be !-your friend, simon(would happily hang on my wall) (Re my honeysuckle bud)

Thanks Simon - I'm glad I haven't bored everyone to tears with my experiments with my new toy, PSE 5. Hopefully the picture is what shines through - as I would hate to think I ever slipped into thinking I can create a silk purse out of a sow's ear! I've wanted to take the Hockney type shot for ages - so I might try to do a (private) series, just to see if I can come up with a shot I feel sums him up! My other side is per David Bailey, but you probably had an inkling of that! Thanks for your encouragement - it means a lot to me. Kate

Thanks Simon - glad you liked my day out pics of my stroll on a nearby beach! Guess I'm really lucky to have such walks available - but that same view can have waves and rocks coming right over the wall onto the road - and even over the other side - so yes, it can certainly get wild!! I just wish I could get a good shot of that one day. I've tried - even going past police road-blocks to get a good view, but the spray and conditions don't help give one a good photo! Poor old lenses and cameras just can't cope with it! I'll need to get into the police car next time! lol, Kate
Exit 13....Triskaidekaphobia is a fear (or phobia) of the number 13...or anything having a value of thirteen...I already knew this one being that I was always curious why hotels (and some buildings) do not have a thirteenth floor, or room (or suite) 13, and found out for myself what the terminology was about...Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Simon... thanks a lot for taking a look at Tsunami & thanks for your very thoughtful comments. You're right, in no way, shape or form would I call this "fluid". But I had wanted to do something a little bit different from the norm, and different from what I usually post as well. As a matter of fact, I almost called it "Shards" but decided at the last moment to change that, since I felt that was too ordinary.
I actually don't remember why I chose Tsunami :o). Anyway, thanks for dropping by, I really appreciated your visit.

Hi there Simon, when i saw this cloud formation comming on at sunset i rushed up to my favorite hill, and was hoping the sun would play it's part in, I Have A Dream, and it did pretty good. Glad you injoyed it. Best wishes, Dwight.
Thank you also for adding me as a friend. I'm glad you like my work. I see you are a painter. You have some really interesting things in your gallery, as well. - Donna
Thanks Simon for adding me to your friends list, i appreciate that, by the way have you seen the gallery of Dunstickin, he lives just up the road in Newcastle UK, i think it's up the road. He has some great images. All the best to you and your loved ones, Dwight.
Hoi, Simon!
If I take a look at your gallery, I see a very different kind of images than the usual
images!
So I wonder,do you also really like the ( What is normal ) photo's ?
Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Simon, thanks for your kind comments on Sunshine Bouquet. My mother was a painter and although I've never considered myself to be a visual artist before, I think I learned a lot from her in terms of color and composition. I still have a lot to learn about photography, however.
Hi Simon - and thanks very much for your appreciation of the composition of my panorama pic. You were right, I did want to convey the feeling of space in the picture, hence the top/bottom borders. Even then, I had to crop from the left! Ah well, I'm so glad you like what you see - lands of my grandparents where I was standing - so holds dear memories for me. Kate
Simon, thanks for venturing your impressions on my image, La, je reste. You got it. It was what I had felt as well. The image isn't over exposed either, as some might have thought. It's exactly how stark the light change was. Sometimes the mind's view can be this way. cheers, Quiet
Hi Simon, I am glad you liked my photo 'over the hill' which was taken quite some time ago and when I look at it now I think it is over exposed and lacking saturation, but the composition is not too bad, so thanks for taking the time to comment. I hope my photography has improved a lot since then. :) Patti

That's an unusual idea... Except there aren't many florists around here who'd like my work! ;) just kidding. Thanks for your nice comment on "Caedes: Growing Hearts". :)
hey simon I appreciate your comment on "pulse".. after hours trying to get the perfect simple water drop I was pleased to get this one. Glad you liked ;]
Hi Simon!
Glad you've seen a couple of shots from the beach today. My favourite is the liquid silver sand one - as you say, clinical! It just struck me, when I saw it, how metallic it looked - and I just had to capture that look. The sand was wet, the light was quite low, so it just worked! The large view of the beach is accurate! It is quite long and curving - I just wanted to accentuate the curve of the sea wall. One of these days I'll remember to use a small aperture to get the depth of field right!! I keep forgetting, and just shoot away regardless! Thanks for visiting, Kate
Hi Simon
Glad you see the abstract in my sand shot - so did I. I find it a challenge to myself, to find the abstract in the ordinary - just perks things up a bit for me! I was down at the shore this morning - the road had been closed (into town) - the waves were crashing in - and the wind threatened to push me into the traffic! Fortunately they all know me! So the bus driver stopped when he spotted me in my mad antics and off I came to work! The road was closed for a couple of hours - so many times this winter - it is certainly getting worse... Have a great weekend, Kate
.........i love the way you have created artwork from something ordinary..........

*You will have noticed that I haven't been commenting as much on your fine images!..This is because of the pains in my hands!..the constant use of the keyboard, makes this difficult..so, my dear friends..I can only apologise to you all in advance!*

Hi Simon
Thanks so much for your compliments on my pics. Means a lot to me to know someone sees my efforts at something different! I have such a low threshhold of boredom - its nice to know someone else does too! The birds give endless fun at present, getting their plumage, mating up and building nests - its non-stop activity! Just what we need for February! lol Thanks a lot for your support - it is much appreciated. Kate
Hi Simon
Glad you like my Blue Forest. Its so strange the different number of pictures everyone sees in it. It is basically two shots of patterns in the sand, just changed colour to blue. To me it looks sort of Egyptian with a starry night! Glad you dropped in! Kate
PS Please tell me - are you left-handed?
Thank you Simon - I'm flattered by your praise for my 10 minute pastel drawing. I think we did about 6 that afternoon - quite exhausting! Nice to see you, Kate
Thanks Simon. Yes, my Big Fuel Guzzlers sent a message which you received. Living as I do on this small Island, I am so aware of what would happen if we no longer received life-line services from the mainland. We are pretty vulnerable! These tanks mean buses, planes, cars, ferries, central heating etc etc - and we all want those things. Our deliveries come by sea, these tanks get filled up and distributed around the Islands. Without them, there would be no poulation here in a generation. Daunting thought! At an artistic level, these things are walked past every day by people not giving them a glance. Yet as you say, there is beauty as well as function in them - even the lovely rust lines, reflecting the angles of the steps and bars holding them. Thanks for seeing these things with me, Kate
We are like people looking for something they have in their hands all the time; we're looking in all directions except at the thing we want, which is probably why we haven't found it.(Plato, 380BC)
Hi Simon
Thanks so much for your support and great critiques on my photos. As to working on a newspaper - I wish! I seem to have a varied style, but I think I am always attracted to a 'difference' somewhere - be it style, shapes, shadows, colours - or candid people shots. I guess I have an aversion to being classified and boxed away somewhere as a certain kind of photographer - but I guess I'm in the set of non-sets!! So boxed anyway! You mentioned Mondrian - who is one of my positive favourite artists. Such mastery of structure, proportion and colour - if only I could be as good! My aim is to create the best photograph, which catches the imagination as well as being skillfully done - and without artificial aids like PhotoShop. This one was just as I saw it - ah well, will keep going - like you! Good luck to you with your art - it is thought provoking and full of passion - good! Kate
Thanks Simon - glad you like my little greenfinches! They are very fair weather friends, greenfinches. Loads of them in the garden for a few weeks, then they disappear off somewhere else! Still, they have lovely flashes of yellow and are feisty little things. Kate
Hello Simon
Yes, I liked the way the grasses flowed and intertwined with one another in Bluegrass. It seemed musical to me in a rhythmical way. I just adjusted the colour by 'removing' red and green (if I remember correctly) and de-saturated the edges, to keep the focus in the middle (all in PSE 5). Just a simple image, but quite calm I think? Kate
Hi Si old mate
Thanks for your very nice comment on " Wave your wand for me golden girl " I've left a recent comment on that piece of yours " austerity " hope u enjoyed the feedback, vice versa !!

Hi Simon, nice to see you again! Thanks for the nice comments on Ft. Ross Point. Yes, I did notice how the gulls formed a triangle. I'd like to say I planned the shot that way, but I know you'd see through me. ;) -Donna
