Physics is not on the side of cormorants when trying to land on a thin limb of a tree. They are diving birds, probably relatively heavy, and fly fast. It is often quite the circus watching them attempt a landing, sometimes unbalancing other birds and sending them off on unscheduled flights. Neighbouring birds say NOT ON MY BRANCH! Often they will assess the landing and decide to make another loop, usually an enormous loop that spans perhaps half a kilometer radius. I liked the zen bird at the top left, calmly observing the drama below.
