Dianthus Green Ball is evenly round fluffy green flowers of about 3" in diameter. Sometimes also known as a green carnation ball, it is easily recognized by its startling vivid color and fuzzy appearance. It is almost perfectly spherical and comes one to a stem. The scientific name of Green Ball is Dianthus barbatus. It belongs to the same species as Sweet William and same genus as Carnations, but it has no true petals, only green sepals. It does well in cut flower arrangements since it has no petals - it is very long lasting. It's a great pop of lime color in a mixed garden. This will be my entry in the current contest.
