i can't see a piece of work being permed without something changing, otherwise it wouldn't have gotten archived in the first place. i'm also guessing one mod wouldn't attempt to override another mod's decision. so regardless of how popular the notion may be, i can't see it going any further than this thread..and not very far here, either.
there is, afterall, a difference between liking a policy, and understanding it's dynamics.
ok, so I'm not thegreatest at replies and comments. Sorry. For anyone needing to contact me, my email is back up inmy profile. >> my cluttered mess of a gallery <<

ah, nvm...reason i was asking is i sort of thought my "Green Background" was somewhate reasonable...well if i compare it Mountain V2, i would say that one should be removed from the perms (it's a terrible shot, the sky gives off a wierd glare, and the angle is messed up...not to mention the colors/etc.). But the green one is a simple background...what a background is supposed to be.
Another example from my gallery is "Glass Balls" not making it but "Anything but Red" did!? I liked glass balls more, the anything but red has too much chaos and mistakes.
PS: You can remove those two images fromthe perms if u wish. ;-)
...ummm, b/c i didnt think of using "Untitled"...say, thats a good name btw. *Just joking*. Just note i dont take my time with titles...or my images for that matter....
I wonder ... ponder, if you will ... if Noah hasn't stumbled upon a new sales technique and presentation. Maybe not ... reverse psychology has been used as a ploy before. :oP
Heyyy!! I know ... resubmit any and all images you wish to be considered for a second shot at the perms and title them; "Untitled."
On a more serious note though ... it has been mentioned that the choices for the permanent galleries ... or at least from what I recall as one of the criteria ... is based on the freshness of the concept, idea as well as the execution.
I did take a look at the two examples you make mention of from your gallery, and IMHO, although the alternatives you suggest are great too ... the ones chosen have a more unique quality to them. Annnnnd ...
Yeah...well anyways. lol. On second thought, there are other images like "Green Background" already in the perms...but better...they have water droplets and have a darker richer mmmMMmmM color to them.
As for glass balls, well...the closest one i can remember is a cube like one that can be found on the earlier pages of my favs.
But, are perms based on the ability to be a good background, or a good image...or both?
I think it is not a bad idea at all - it could be restricted to 1 request per month, or less. Then those who feel some masterpiece has been overlooked would have the satisfaction of 'doing something' other than complaining.
Is it not possible that one has been overlooked?
Then if the answer is Tough Cheese, that's Cool Bananas.
Hey Sam.. maybe we should start up an "aussie slang" thread so that they know what we are talking about... LMAO... *glad you only said tough chedder and not tough t... LOL...
I agree with you Eve...I brought this up a few months back Second Chances and I also think as you do that if the artist had outlet for an image they felt was "left out in the cold" it would help squash some of the complaints that an image gets lost in the shuffle due to low(undeserved) c-index scores.
Moe , yes I remember but went back and re read that thread. It would seem, if I understand it correctly, that just one mod at a time judges what goes and what stays. I guess they have 'off days' like the rest of us. No one would expect "12 good men and true" to make up a jury, but a second opinion if it were asked for does not seem unreasonable to me.
Here is one of the reasons I thought a trio of mods(or any &group here on the site with the time and knowledge to make an unbiased decision) would be best if a second chance were given... feathers ...not my best stuff...but at the time of posting...very different.. if you read the comments..you see that if Michael(+photoimagery...thanks again Michael...truly made my day) would had been the one to decide on perms or not..I feel it would be in. I think it slipped thru the cracks due to the difference of what one mod preferred vs what another liked...
I would have thought Feathers deserves higher than 70 and well worth inclusion.
Having said that I believe the c-index does not seem to have a great bearing, I have 12 images above 75 which missed out. And one of 82 that got in and was later removed. Then again, I have a 57 and a 60 that got in. No wonder I am confused :)
I think your example here is a good reason for the second chance idea.
