I happened to look at my work in Caedes Control, sorted by "gallery". I noticed that there was a huge imbalance in categories represented, and had an idea.
Why not go through the list, alphabetically or otherwise, and shoot images in each category. Some will be old hat, and some will be a bit tough, but that's the point. Perhaps if the "comfort zone" is vacated somewhat, growth can occur.
Hm, sounds like a plan. I will need to get my camera first though... but will keep in mind for when I do.
Meanwhile, I shall just explore different areas of art and computer art and the like.
Aaaaaaand I kinda smuck at photography and art and all this, because not a single perm, so I do kinda need to find my "calling". (a.k.a. the kind of art I can do that doesn't blind people.)
I pondered this sometime ago when I noticed something similar happening in my caedes control. After I figured out what I hadn't shot alot of or at all I went out and tried to shoot those things/categories. Incidentally, most of my work that has been added to the perms was from those photoshoots.
So, I think, you're on to something here Rob. This could definitely be a stretching experience for some people (it was for me in some respects), shooting outside their known subjects.

It is true that if you upload an image that is lacking in the perms, you have a better chance of having it moved there; as opposed to uploading something of which there are already many good examples (say "flowers) which means that you have alot more competition...
Point taken, but I wasn't really aiming this in a "perm vs. archived" direction. I thought stomping in fresh snow, so to speak, would increase different individuals' learning curves.
OoOoOo, that was not my intent to bring up the "perms vs. archived" debate... For me it was a way to challenge myself to shoot things that were totally foreign to my normal subject matter. All I was trying to get at was that sometimes with new found subject matter you can have great outcomes (I've gotten some great respones/comments to many images that haven't been put in the perms, which are much more valuable IMO, that were of new subject matter or style).

Don't wait! Just jump in right away! That's how you figure out your camera. As Les mentioned, I'd keep a look out for the next Morat assignment, they're fun because it test your skills in a certain aspect of photography. Plus it gives you some ideas on how to shoot that particular way / subject, by looking at others submissions.

mmm im a little bit behind here having only just found this, but good thinking batman! perhaps that will inspire me to find something to take shots of, im a little bit stuck right now!! (trying to avoid flowers as yes, there is too many)!
I am still pretty new to this board and photgraphy as a whole, but I really like the idea of a challenge and would love to join in. I think I will check out some of the categories and see what I can play with.

Like the title says, this is just an idea.
