Missing in Action

I see that there has been concern about not enough mods, and images taking a long time to get approved, etc.

fwiw, I've been intermittently active for the past month or so due to stuff going on in my life, and will be able to pick up and be more active again, probably starting this weekend.

I know that Piner's computer died and he only has intermittent access to another one.

I'll do my best to approve images in the mornings before I head off for work, and the evenings when I get home so that at least there isn't more than a 12 hour delay.

More than anything, it appears to be a confluence of the majority of the mods having stuff going on in their lives all at the same time. Piner's computer died about 3 weeks before my life became busy, and I know that prior to then the other mods were around relatively daily as well. Not sure what's going in their lives exactly, but I'm sure that's all it is. In the meantime, they've been dealing with more than their usual share of the workload due to both mine and Piner's inactivity.

No worries and no surprises, Cat. Our lives tend to run like ocean waves, high and low, fast and slow. So it's no surprise and understandable to hear that the mods are busy with their own lives. Personally I haven't experienced any real delays in my submissions being approved, and I'm glad that cooler heads have prevailed in the latest debates. So now that you'll have all this time on your hands, how are you at planning a summer wedding and remodeling my house and yard?

If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.

Summer wedding, good, I pulled off one of my own 2 years and 2 days ago. 8•D

Remodeling... you'll have to apply to my husband for that. I'm more an idea person. I'm working on enacting, but you know... then I wouldn't start having time to put in back here again!

Thank you for your explanation Cat.
I made the comment on a now deceased thread they it seemed we were on auto pilot. My observation was not that there are not enough mods but rather the absence of the 'usual' ones.
The slowness of image approval was an observation which seemed to confirm that the mod lounge was rather empty.
For myself the approval speed is not an issue or a concern. As I normally post when the majority of you are sleeping I am used to a longer delay than most, but it had noticeably extended.
I did send a short pm to one absent mod saying I had noticed their absence and asked it they were ok. I had no response at the time or since.

I know that it is not possible for you to post news on the front page but might it be possible if a similar set of circumstances should arise again to post in a dedicated thread in Member Initiated Projects or Non-art Website Issues advising members what is happening. I am sure everyone recognises that these things are unavoidable.
Very often a member will leave a note saying they expect to be away or less active. When a regular member is absent it is less noticeable then when the mod squad is. No detailed accounts of mods' activities is expected but when all conspires to make their overall absence noticed, being informed would keep everyone in the picture, prevent conjecture, and encourage patience.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Hi Lyn, that's a good idea. I'll bring it up with the other mods - we do generally try to communicate with each other when we're not going to be around and make sure there's someone to take up the slack.

If I might suggest, in the instances (which I believe have been few) of a backlog on the image approving queue.. any member can check this site webpage:

The Caedes.net Senate

... to see if those able to approve images have been online to do so.

Other than that, if no details on the note of absences is being sought (I'm not tellin' anyways! :oP).. the answer lies in the above linked page.

In fact, since I am.. ahem ... here, as a reminder, here are a couple of informative and helpful site webpages:

Site Information ... "Other Stuff that wouldn't fit anywhere else"

Site Information ... "Welcome to caedes.net"

Both of the above can be accessed by the left-hand side menus (i.e. "Navigation", "Control Panel", "Jobs", etc.).
