The Bootheel is in the Southeast part of Missouri and is so named because of its shape. The barn is not quite in the Bootheel, but it is darn close. This is a b/w version of this one I posted earlier. LynEve posted a b/w today, so I thought I would post one in her honor. She was the founder of the highly successful b/w challenge that appeared on here for so many years.

I like 'em both but I think this one has more pathos... then again, I've been a sucker for black & white since my very early years with our Life magazine subscription, and later, from my darkroom days (and day and days) in college. I didn't grab a copy of the other one but I am for this one, destined for my laptop screen. Thanks, Ron (too bad Lyn's Challenge is gone).

I didn't recognize that this was the b/w version of the other one. Looks good in b/w Tick.

This was wonderful in color but I really like the B&W version - the different textures and tones really stand out.

The black and white version seems to highlight more of the structure. Both are good captures though.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Tick, to me using monotones in your Hillbilly Barn capture is a successful attempt to give this barn even more character than it already has in your colored version.
Join me in your compliments for Lyn, Owd Fella!
