The photo was taken in Cape Girardeau, MO a couple of years ago. This gentlemen was relaxing on a bench near the Mississippi River. He gave me permission to take his photo and I gave him some cash for his trouble. He quickly walked to a nearby tavern after the photo was taken. I did a slight FDR edit and converted to black and white. If that is manipulation, so be it.

Good editing on this - He went to "celebrate" the fact that his photo was taken !! If only he knew that this photo can be seen all over the world.

I have placed a garlic necklace around my monitor to protect you from the mod police, Tick. Let me know if they change your gallery or title. But until then, I will look through the garlic protection and enjoy your picture. Happy Easter ~~ John

It looks great in b/w and your FDR treatment adds to the detail and tones...the 'grittiness' seems most fitting for the subject matter...good work, SOT.

FDR? I haven't heard of that, Ron. Or did you mean HDR? Whatever the case, it really enhances the lines, folds, shadows, and contrasts. It's like the charcoal drawings I used to do in my college drawing classes... except it actually looks good.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The FDR/HDR-treatment and converting it to a B&W image has made it to a characterful portrait, Tick.

In spite of his relaxing pose now, I can see clearly that life hasn't been that easy for him up till now.

Good work, Owd Fella!

This caught my eye - nice to see you bravely take on an every day scene and with such good results.

[I might have cropped a smidge off the top and bottom, as the brickwork (nice as it is) draws my eye away from the subject.]

I like the rework on this! I like the rework you did on this image. I would like to do more people shots, although Alice has given me some pointers, I haven't been able to go out and try much candid photography. Good job and presentation.
