My late husband and I used to enjoy vintage car shows. I recently found this image on his hard drive and, unfortunately, he only took this one view. Steering this car was evidently done with two tillers (I think that is what they are). Why two? The tilted front window is kind of neat. When the person gets in (is there a door?) they are closed in...very unusual...instead of being perched up high. Anyone have any idea what it is? One for Manic Monday.

Thanks Eugene! The one tiller is for steering and the other operates the mechanical controller for speed and direction control. I found an old photo where the car is backed up to a house, and cord is running from the back of the car into the window of the house!

Never seen one like this before. This is a very interesting ancient vehicle. I suppose one tiller is for steering and the other one is for setting the engine on reverse.

I was going to say...this seems to be driving on battery power!...

the tillers could be one to steer and one to drive by 2 people!..

Connie, think a ride in such a 'car' wouldn't be only fun, but probably an adventure as well (I'm curious whether this 'car' has brakes or not, lol).

Very interesting and a good one for Manic Monday!

Cool car! Jay Leno has one similar to the one pictured in that link, and he had it out for a drive on a recent episode of Jay Leno's Garage. He called it a 'car ahead of it's time.'

My late wife and I loved to attend the annual car show in Columbus. It is a "new" car show versus what you attended, but I would have loved to see the vintage cars as well. You found quite a beauty with this one. I hope you are able to attend more shows again. ~~ John
