I don't have much time to write, but we made it though the hurricane in one piece. We are extremely blessed it came on shore early, and there is no damage in the area to homes or cars for the most part. There are large amounts of twigs and leaves everywhere, but with the exception of a few small trees none fell. We were out of power since Sunday evening and just now got it back. We were very prepared for this and had enough food, water, and clean clothes for at least 2 weeks if necessary. The weather right after the storm, and until just a short time ago, has been real balmy and not that hot. Now the storm is gone, the hot high pressure system is moving in, the temps will be back in the 90s. Not fun if you do not have a fan or A/C. I need to run, but wanted to let everyone know that we weren't blown away. Sorry for the bad quality shot, it was after hurricane Charley in 2003. Take care and will write soon.

You were very lucky that the IRMA lost strength during the passage up Florida. You have seen what the storm did to Miami. Good to know that you had no problem Alex.

Happy to hear that you are well Alex - thank goodness Irma didn't cause mass damage to the entire state although some areas were hit hard - with everyone pitching in to clean up, Florida will be stronger than ever!!!!!! p.s. I'm so proud of our utility company here in NJ, PSE&G, they were one of the first to send crews totaling 154 workers to Florida to help get power restored to your great state!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the update, Alex. What a relief that the people in your area weren't killed or injured, and cars and homes aren't damaged by the elsewhere devastating 'Irma'.
Whether this image hasn't the optimal quality isn't in these circumstances not that relevant. The relatively good news brought by your narrative is much more important.
Thanks for that, my friend!

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
