This Cabbage Tree stands at the mouth of the Kakanui River. Being in flood the river today was very wide.
Take 1 of this scene was 11 years ago CLICK HERE
The tree is surviving well in such an exposed and windy place.
This one was taken with Panasonic TZ60.. I think the first one was probably with Kodak V550 which was my pride and joy at the time. I still have it.

That's a great before-and-after comp, Lyn. A "Cabbage Tree"... hmmmm... looks like a number of yucca plants got frightened and leapt into a tree to escape a hungry herbivore... one that didn't mind getting poked in the face for it's dinner. The image as a stand-alone has many pleasing elements--the cabbage tree, shore grasses, ocean shore waves, river ripples, the graduated blue of the sky, good latter day lighting (not too much yellow), etc. Overall a very pleasing wallpaper scene.

How great to be able to show the same scene eleven years apart! Also, very interesting to see the comments the first one got and from whom.

What a difference in the water levels in the two shots Lyn - amazing to capture the same shot 11 years later. (I also have hung on to my Kodak from 13 years ago - I loved that camera!)

----which was my pride and joy at the time. I still have it---

About Bob's comment: like to agree with Bob that time passes by very quickly. But that's inevitable. So use it well.

About the Kodak V550: still very worthwhile to be cherished, Lyn.

About your image: a perfect composition. May be a clich, but only the strong ones will survive, my friend!

Great comparison. I have done the same thing with a couple of my entry's showing the same trees years apart. Always nice to see how little things from the old days.
