The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

There are numerous plants that utilize colors in ways to make themselves more noticeable to pollinators like bees and hummingbirds, these crocus being only one but definitely a good example. In college for fine art, studying color theory, we're taught that certain color combinations should be avoided because they literally "vibrate" when placed next to each other, and are not what is termed complimentary colors. The poinsettia is a classic case in point, its bright red and green being adopted in the U.S. as the identifiable (and unofficial) colors of Christmas. However, if you place those two colors directly side by side and look closely at the line between them, they shortly will appear to vibrate (one of the reasons I have a hard time watching the Denver Broncos football team play--their uniforms are too busy fighting themselves). However difficult that is for us to view, it's fully acceptable to flowers, or else these crocus might have chosen a different color combination than orange and blue (are you hearing me, Denver?). As a photographer, I can move past my experience and knowledge as an artist and appreciate what your beauties are doing here, Lyn.
