For Wacky Wednesday !
Dating from 1864 the Kurow Hotel at Kurow in the Waitaki Valley NZ is the only 2 storey hotel in town !
It is also unique in that it is divided exactly down the middle and painted in the colours of two different breweries. I could not get any more of the DB Gold coloured half because there were too many vehicles outside (about 3 !)
I guess that's called hedging your bets (or breweries,)
It has been like that for years - I only just realized it is quite odd as we are so used to seeing it like that.

Lyn, I wouldn't close my eyes in this hotel. My doubt as to whether I had chosen the correct colored part would keep me busy all night, ☺ .
Perfect entry for WW!. Thanks for the smile!

It's like a dark draft beer with the body on the left and the head on the right.

Good one LE.

I think a lot of communities have a business or two that is a combination of affairs. My father-in-law, a mechanic, owned and operated a Sinclair gas station. His partner of sorts ran a small hamburger joint on one side of the station called "Sourdough Sam's". It was a very popular place for a number of years even though the "restaurant" had a grand total of 5 stools at a short counter. My wife remembers hanging out there after school, waiting to catch a ride home to the farm with her dad, remembering that "Sam's" had a lot of take-out business. I don't imagine that anyone driving through Kurow could miss this place with a color combination like that. I checked out the place online and found an actual 359-degree QTVR interactive of the place and Duntroon Road, and in it it's interesting to see a pair of unique and identical white business places bracketing the hotel, one on each side. I think that adds to the mystique of the hotel... three unique structures in a row.
