Karitane Village from Puketeraki Lookout.
Driving home from our nearest city yesterday we took a scenic detour. Karitane was the site of a pre-European Maori kaik (undefended village) Close by is the site of Huriawa Pa (a fortified Maori Village). The area was a hunting ground for the long-extinct Moas.
A less nice part of its history was the European whaling station in the 1840's.
These days Karitane is a lovely village and fishing port and popular as a holiday retreat.
I had no camera with me so this is with my ancient iPhone.

Lyn, your iPhone camera doesn't know whether it's old or not. Doesn't matter that much.To achieve a good photographic result, the used camera is only marginally dependent. Keen eyes and photographic skills are more essential for a good result. When I see this result, I know for sure you have both of them.

After decades of shooting photos using all sorts of cameras, from film to digital, phone to P&S to DSLR, I have found the limiting factor isn*t always the camera. In the hands of a skilled photographer even a pin-hole camera would capture a decent photo, even better a smart phone. You did a fine job, Lyn; the image tells us all it needs to and does so in an aesthetic manner. Kudos.
