Yes, I remember this one and vaguely recall commenting on how looking to the ground also produces wonderful fall captures...still love this one for its' textures, clarity, and subject matter...it goes to my faves and hope it stays put this time.
This composition intrigued me, but I can't really explain why. Maybe it's the organic, slightly exotic (for me) spiny chestnut, laying there like an alien seed pod, just prior to releasing some horror on the world. Check out the original 'Blob' movie with Steve McQueen - the seed pod at the beginning was a small, innocuous sphere like this one. Didn't stay that way for long though. So be careful while you're out shooting festive little scenes like this, the ordinary might be something different entirely.
I like the progressive variety here, from a single seed pod to a couple cones to a multitude of dead leaves for a background. They all provide a very earthy texture. Nice. -Nik
