It's funny how almost everyone except the gunners have their ears covered. I'm guessing they're not used to a cannon and probably think they'd better, just in case. I hope the grass wasn't dry. We had a similar demonstration here, during a drought in the latter 1980's, and the cotton wadding started a grass fire that consumed two tents and the gear inside. An unintentional demonstration on how fast a prairie fire can race in the wind. That's a sizable post you have there, with a stone palisade as well as structures. I think I'll have to check it out on the web (my 33+year career was in the field of history and its interpretation). Thanks.

Hey, I checked out the website and the fort and the mounds look like my kind of attractions. Plus it's just down the road not far from Decorah, where I have some very good friends. I think I hear road trip next year, maybe.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Having hearing loss due to loud factory work. Safety measures came a little late for me. I really think those gunners should protect their eardrums. BOOM! Good shot.:)
