So you're in an environment not overflowing with natural beauty (Urban Bangkok.) and you want to take photos that won't make people barf when you show them. You just have to make the most of what's in front of you, learn to see things differently, really LOOK for beauty, maybe shift your perception somewhat, see beautiful details more than overall beauty, make yourself work a bit harder as a photographer than you normally like to. :) Sometimes Mother Nature makes it easy for us, certainly for me, with my endless landscapes and all. :) The Klong outside my apartment window in Rangsit, Bangkok, more like a huge drain than a waterway, but looking ok in this shot.

Enjoy.

Mikel.

This image shows us a real part of Bangkok. No frills at all, but anyhow a very good image Mikel. Well done.

This proves that nature is always around, we just have to find it. Thanks for showing us this part of what Bangkok is like.

Diverse and fast moving city. Seems to represent a pause in the frenetic energy.

Great job, Mikel, I know exactly what you mean here. This situation we so often find ourselves in is what I think defines who we are as a photographer. I live in a town where I am challenged constantly to come up with something beautiful and different. It takes much time and patience and the ability to see the beauty in something that isn't smacking us in the face. You really nailed it here. The reflection of the sun in the water with the ripples in the water with the light purple sky background really stand out as a beautiful landscape shot but without the landscape, in the middle of the city. Really great job capturing two completely different scenes in combination with each other. One other question, did you throw a rock into the water to cause that ripple or was that just by chance? Thanks for posting these types of shots, it gives me hope in times of not knowing what to shoot.

Mike
