Sleeping in a submarine... A comfortable spacious sleeping-room with very useful utensils like torpedo's shoved under your bed. And when you go out at night to empty your bladder and return from the toilet, make sure you don't lay down in one of those tubes. You might get launched and be shot from 100 feet down below to surface in less than 7 seconds. Ouch! that must hurt!

I love series like this, ones that show us scenes we'd otherwise never see (and I'm not even going to use the word photojournalism here... even though that's what it is). These shots remind me of my OZ series back in 2009. Keep 'em coming, Paul.

If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.

You are fortunate to visit such places, & I'm amazed they let you take photos too. Thanks for sharing with us Paul.

I always heard they had tight quarters. I was in the navy on a APA and had a lot more space then that. Good shot, PAUL.

A unique view for sure. Boy the space is very cramped. My son lives near Bangor, Washington, which is a sub base. They sail (?) the subs to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard so they can work on them. They look huge as they pass right in front of my son's house. They are VERY carefully guarded.

Sure doesn't look comfortable. I see most things are chained or bolted down and for good reason. A guy could sure get banged around in there if things got shaky.

I don't know how much sleeping I would do under those circumstances.
