We have had an over abundance of Painted Ladies this year. The newspaper says that California, where these butterflies breed, had near perfect conditions last spring with all its rains. This led to the butterflies flooding the midwest and since Nebraska is on the migration route for their journey back to California ... well, we see a lot of them. This one is playing hopscotch on some garlic blossoms.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

Whether viewed as a thumbnail or full image, it looks to me like an interpretation of lace on lace. My mother had a lace tablecloth that had these little islands of lace, held within solid areas of cloth. The monarch has a similar character although it's spot color nature makes it the perfect focal point in the image. Nicely composed. I recently attempted a "butterfly on flowers" image while kayaking a lake, but this one is so much better. I was at that spot for only a couple minutes, floating and moving, and this requires much more effort, as your photo's quality proves.
