I was excited to see a large white crane on the banks of the river and took several long distant shots. It wasn't until I was editing the photos that I realized his mate was on the other bank. The bird is the size of a blue heron. I checked bird identification books and it seems these are white herons, but their range is supposed to be limited to Florida and Nebraska definitely not near Florida.

Well, Jeff, you know that in any group of birds flying across the sky, it is the one at the front of the flock or "V" that has the map. These two may have been the road guards for the group, and got left behind along the way?
