These are prolific blooms in my region in the late summer. They may be "false" but they are beautiful wildflowers. Look closely at the front edge of this bloom and you'll see a crab spider hiding, just waiting for some unwary insect to come for dinner and deal falsely with him.

See that the crab spider tries to be incognito, but I can clearly see it, Jeff. If its potential victims have keen eyes like me, it will be starving, ☺ !

Oooh yeaaaah, I see the legs sticking up. Now I have to go find it on the web to see what the rest of it looks like. It can hide from insects but it can't hide from your lens, Jeff. Nice.

Hmmmm... a rather ugly dude but, when it curls its forelegs up, I can see where it gets the name Crab Spider. I can appreciate their efficiency as hunters and web spinners and all that, but I've been bitten too many times by spiders to truly appreciate their antagonistic personalities.
