At the base of the cliff, you can see what appears to be a small arch. To give you a sense of scale, I'm 6 feet tall and can walk through the arch without bending over and not hit my head. Taken in Pogue Creek Canyon in Tennessee.

A breathtaking scene on a beautiful trail, to be sure. I wonder how many hikers looked into that opening under the massive cliff, and considered the world of hurt if they were in there if the roof of rock should collapse. I once stood across from a waterfall inside a horizontal mine shaft, outside Rapid City, SD, and wondered that as well, Geez, I must be getting old. Nothing ventured; nothing gained, right? If I can stand on the bottom of a river, with just my head and camera out of the water, in order to photograph passing birchbark canoes, I can hike under an arch of stone. Again, right onto my bucket list.
