Several days ago, I spotted a meadowlark and, of course, as I was raising my camera, he flew off. But took a picture anyway. I almost missed him. I did two versions of the results and can make up my mind which I like better.
I think I prefer this first one, Jeff. The focus on the Meadowlark is a little better, probably because it is smaller here, but I really like the wider space between the bird and the opposite corner (lower right), giving the viewer more of a sense of freedom for the bird and its height in the sky. The bits of darker color and blue in the lower right quadrant also provides another dimension that is almost nonexistent in the second photo.
Very nice. The Meadowlark is my state bird and I have photographed a number of times before, but always standing still. This is the first time I have seen one in flight. It looks a bit like a feathered bullet.
