Just found out that they are also called laceleaf, though I can't figure out why. Seen at the Lauritzen Gardens' greenhouse.

I studied up on these several years ago and you know what the most fascinating thing about them is, to me? That red *leaf* is called a spathe, and is not a leaf or a flower. The anthurium is loaded with flowers, probably more than any other plant. That part that sticks up like a finger is called a spadix, and the flowers? Well, the flowers on this plant are all those tiny light-colored dots on the spadix. Also, this plant originates high up in the canopy of the Central American forests, and their roots travel downward to the ground, sometimes as long as a hundred feet. Despite that phenomenal ability, they can be transplanted to pots without too much concern. Pretty cool, eh? Well, so is your shot, Jeff; I have never seen them in a red quite this bright.
