The rattlesnake den always disturbs me because the longer I look at it, the more snakes I realize I missed seeing initially. In the Desert Dome at the Henry Doorly Zoo. (p.s. there are 3 in this picture)
I do not remember this spot in the biome, with snakes and a mining rail track, but will look for it in a couple months when we head south for a visit. Having had encounters with them here, numerous times, your thumbs-up photo, Jeff, gives me a bit of the heebie-jeebies. I recall shooting a tripod photo of an African viper, up against the glass in its New Orleans Audubon Zoo case, my lens about 6 inches from its eyes. It was the same color as the leaves it was laying in and had shapes in its scales like those leaves. Two young boys happened along and could not see what I was shooting, so I showed them my back screen. The term *eyes the size of silver dollars* describes their reaction. Fun.
