As far as I know the difference between bokeh and DOF is that bokeh has a blurred background which gives the image some depth whereas DOF has the true depth in focus all the way. Therefore I am considering this image as my entry for the contest.

A most beautiful capture Raj and a fine example of large DOF.
Best of luck in the contest.
Most entries so far appear to be concentrating on shallow DOF for some reason :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Actually, the dictionary's definition of DOF, Depth of Field, is the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera. Bokeh is the visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, especially as rendered by a particular lens. As it applies to this contest, I believe the DOF theme should be interpreted by the submitting member to be what we used to get with an f-stop setting of 22 or better with our film cameras; that a DOF submission should be tack-sharp throughout. So you're correct, Raj, and this entry definitely fits the theme. However, DOF is also a technical term for a camera setting and therefore can also be interpreted as how much or how little sharp focus and blur is involved in an image. Members who enter contests here at Caedes tend to follow their own interpretations which often leads many judges to select images that are simply pleasing to the eye. Looking at the entries so far submitted, I see many that are using some level of bokeh. I've given up on entering contests myself because no matter how hard I try to follow the theme, technically and philosophically, the judges have other ideas. So good luck to you, Raj.

Lovely clear image, and a pretty scene Raj, it's seems like a good contender for the DOF competition.

I agree with NIK, that DOF can be short or long and in this image you have given us an example of a long or deep DOF. It all depends on what you want to emphasize in a photo or whether you want it all sharp as in a landscape or short or shallow as in a flower or other closeup or even people. A large aperture, of course, or a long focal length lens give the shallowest DOF and a small aperture or short lens, a long or deep DOF. You have met the definition in my view of a long DOF in this fine landscape, Raj.
