These statues I found at Simpson College in Iowa, don't know what they were made of but detail was terrific. They were so tall, but I liked the faces. There are so many American Gothic photos of the painting. These I thought were so unusual. Don't know if everyone is familiar with the American Gothic couple. These I'm pretty sure are copied from the Grant Woods painting.

How cool to find this couple in statue form Carol. American Gothic's has been compared to Da Vinci's Mona Lisa, as far as it being universally recognize as a cultural icon. Your treatment makes them look like a painting, reverting them back into original form. Nicely done.

The thing that goes the farthest, towards making life worthwhile, it costs the least and does the most, is just a pleasant smile.
Their expression is so 'stern' that if you insulted them ...that garden fork would pointed in a place where you sit down!....
Great find..I too, would have found these structures intriguing!

Stunning capture and the only American gothic I know is the horror move,These look like Amish people to me and you captured them superbly my friend nice work that you applied too.Yes very interesting and had the brain working too.

Can't recall where I've seen this, but recognized it immediately, I was thinking "Quakers", but just a guess. Very nice, Carol.

The models that Grant Wood used for this painting were actually his sister and his dentist and Wood intended the couple in the painting to be a father and daughter (despite the assumption by most folks that they are husband and wife). -Nik
