I think I would have a great time riding around with you all day and taking photos of the barns and outbuildings you post. Around here something is "Historic" if it's from 1890.
I love the colored layers in this very fine barn picture, Carol. It has some resemblance with an impressionist painting. Perfectly seen, captured, and edited to a moody artwork!
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!

Now I would print and frame and hang this one on my wall, and as a life-long artist (what I went to college for), I have no room left. So... I would take down one of mine to make space for yours. The simplicity of the scene captures the pastoral life perfectly (I worked as a farm & ranch hand for 6 years in my youth), the open door and the silhouettes within beckon exploration, and the peeling paint, hanging door, and crack in the foundation all point to longevity, while the rails and fences speak of hard work and long days. You've captured the essence of the American farmer and rancher in this simple study, Kathy. Kudos!

I just love this shot. Painted in barn red.
