Visiting the island of Ikaria in Greece, we came across this unusual window. Not really sure why this chair is in this window, but I found it hilarious.
Perhaps they wanted the window to stay shut and it needed the help of the chair to do so? Two legs and the left top of the back appear to be wedged in there. An interesting image, yes, and a good eye for capturing it.
I also like your Calm and Peaceful, Beach Cat, and Serene, agreeing with Chris about the cropping. I usually try to shoot mine a little larger, then crop them accordingly when I get them up on the big screen. I particularly like the architectural detail on the Church Outside Moscow, wishing you'd have taken a closer, head-on shot, from the door at the bottom to the pair of gold roof lines at the top. Having started my career with film cameras and the constraints created by 36-exposure rolls of film, it's taken me a while to get used to the fact that, with the large capacity SDHC cards available for DSLR's, I can shoot thousands of photos in the field and pick and choose the best ones later in the computer.
A small gallery but some nice work in there, Vicki.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
Hi Vicki. It looks to me that this was taken around 11a. Great light and shadow in the composition. The hedges indicate that the windows open outward so, with the chair, purposely in the way, it will always remain shut.
:) How very odd but it makes an intriguing picture which you spotted and captured perfectly Vicki.
My theory is the doors do not close properly (there is a gap) and the chair wedged there is to prevent the doors flying open in the wind :) Or maybe someone has ventured out and wants to keep someone else captured inside . . . . . . .
My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
This is clearly the seat of honour. They just haven't found an honourable person daring enough to take the seat yet. A good eye and interesting find, Vicki. Good lighting and details in the photo.
Thanks for the smile!
