The oldest of the existing bridges across the River Tyne, the High Level opened in 1849. Previous bridges had been at a low level, but to avoid steep climbs at either end, a bridge must cross the Tyne gorge much higher. When the need arose for a railway bridge to link the south of England with Newcastle and Edinburgh..I've decided to put this in the competition,Replacing my previous.

A fabulous composition and very worthy competitior, Richie. Really great detail on the girders. It works very well in B&W. Colour would have probably been too distracting.

This is a very good image of the bridge taken from the right angle. Good luck in the contest Richie.

A good entry Count B and it doesn't surprise me that you wander around at midnight. The blood is better when a little cool. Great contest entry. B/W was the perfect vehicle to use.

This bridge in New Castle Upon Tyne may have a high level, but your image of it has a high level too, Richie! GOOD LUCK!

This is a great entry Richie. I like all of the framework to the bride and the people you captured makes it really cool. B&W was perfect for this one.

There is so much in this image - it's truly fabulous. I can't decide whether I would have liked it better if you had photographed more to the left and cropped out the foremost rail or if I like it just as it. For some reason, my eye wants to move everything left. That said, the subject is marvelous, along with the tones and mood. I love the figure walking away which adds an air of mystery. Excellent leading perspective. All the lines and angels keep the eyes moving. Just a great photo all around. anne :-)

Tell me if you like it or don't but be sure to tell me why! I promise to always give honest and sincere (albeit gentle when necessary) critiques. MY NEW YEARS TIP for all, go have some fun with your new gear you got for Christmas. Do some things you rarely or never do. If you always shoot scenics, go shoot macros (or as close up as you can get.) Practice on different subjects, try new lighting techniques, bracket your shots (shoot the same image at different exposures and different apertures), get down low and shoot from your back, your belly, and your knees. Bend, twist, lean and climb up on things. Shoot toward the sky (carefully - blown out sunlight is NOT attractive :-) Just do something different and amaze yourself then share with us :-) Love you Caedians.

A fantastic capture and perspective in your photo. Looks wonderful in b/w. Good details in the ironwork and clarity in the shot. I like the post photo effect you've added. Best of luck in the contest.
