Both you and the new Fuji did very well! It looks very cold. The mallard had to be outside, but you, Richie, why??? lol! ~~ John

I would say your Fuji did its trick. It is easier to get shots of the ducks when they are frozen to the ground.
Wonderful clarity.

Congrats with your new toy, Richie.
Although your lens was at 720 mm, I do suppose that you were laying on your belly as well, in front of this duck while capturing it. The result is amazing: saw never such a big duck, lol.
See too that, even in this cold, your hands didn't tremble.
Regards, Cornelius.

She's a beauty. Lovely contrast between the warm plumage and icy-blue background.

As much as I love my cannon I will never give up my point and shoot kodak. Looks like you have a good one. The colors and clarity are really crisp.

Terrific shot, Richie! The intended area of focus on the eye is spot on and outstanding for a hand-held shot, at least as far as I can tell, given the inherent limitations of my browser and monitor. I love the light, contrast, and composition, as well. Very nicely done!

The Fuji cameras are great I use myself a S2500HD the zoom goes to the 504mm and works very well.
You use a tripod on this one?

720mm? Holy crow! It would be handy to know how far away from the bird you were when you took this shot. You managed to get very good DOF on the bird with the eye clear and the feathers distinct. My only question is the 4x5 format. Is that common for Fuji cameras? I've always used either Minolta, Canon, or Nikon so I'm not familiar with Fujis.

Fabulous shot Richie. The clarity is amazing considering the lens you used. The image captures the cold perfectly. I always say that you can't go wrong with a picture of a duck and you've certainly not gone wrong here.
