American Grey squirrel..Considered a pest that strips the bark from our trees,Eats our song birds eggs and carries a pox that kills our native Red Squirrel...There Is an ongoing battle to eradicate them or at least stop the spread from the southern counties where the native Reds have all been eradicated....R.

I apologize for our ill behaved squirrels - the reds are so much cuter. I wish you luck though trying to get rid of them.

Richie, a similar story can be told about plants and animals that were imported from other countries to our country, then fled or discarded and then multiplied rapidly so becoming a pest due to the lack of natural enemies in their new area. Recently a lot of South American turtles were found in a nearby pond. Fortunately they weren't afflicted with diseases.

When I was about eight my dad brought the entree for Thanksgiving, and would only say it was not Turkey, that he would reveal it after supper. Yup. Wisconsin gray squirrel. Wasn^t too bad, a lot like rabbit, but we had to reconcile it with ourselves that we had just celebrated Thanksgiving by eating ^tree rats^.
