Richie, to me this is a good example that a washed out sky (because of the gray weather) can enhance the beauty of a landscape scene. It gives your wonderful image the proper mood and character.
If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!

The overcast is doing three things here that make the photo special: it adds a strong melancholy mood as the horizon fades out, it diffuses the light so the shadows blend instead of turn black, and it adds just enough humidity to the air to create lovely color contrasts. There is loads to look at here, the cat included.
