Looks tasty. As my son says, everything is better with bacon. Personally, I think I runs in his bloodstream. ;oP

Richie, in my country they have two dishes that are mainly eaten in winter. They are called 'hutspot' (stew of carrots, onions, potatoes and bacon) and 'erwtensoep' (split peas, celeriac, leek, onion, other vegetables and pork meat/bacon). If I read your narrative correctly, it seems that the Northumbrian Bacon and Lentil Broth is a combination of these dishes. Is probably not only tasty but also helps you to get through the winter well. Enjoy your meal!

You have made me hungry, Richie. A loaf of homemade bread would be great with this too.
