The Netherlands coastguard aircraft PH-CGC (type Dornier 228-212) was captured by me yesterday (August 5th, 2017) while it was on patrol above the North Sea.

Whenever I hear the name Dornier I think of early flying boats. Dornier was established in Germany, only a dozen years after Orville and Wilbur Wright first flew their plane at Kittyhawk, North Carolina, and figured prominently during WWI. Quite an accomplishment to design and build moderate-range aircraft considering the Wright's first flight covered only 36.6 meters (120 feet) for a thrilling 12 seconds, after less than a couple decades. Great detail and focus on this image, C. Outstanding for the long focal length necessary to capture it.
