This image belongs to a series of photographs that were taken by me on the occasion of a contemporary art festival held in 2017 (July, 14th till November, 5th) in Middelburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

The festival was called 'Facade'. For some information about 'Facade' please see this one. If you check-out this link you'll see a map. The depicted contemporary artwork is # 17 of this map.

Further details:

On the stretch of grass between the Molenwater and the Mattheus Smallegangehof, the Dutch artist Anouk Kruithof (Dordrecht, 1981) has set up the installation entitled 'Ahead'. It consists in total of 1080 photos of individuals of whom only the back of the heads can be seen. However odd it may seem, they are still portraits as they are absolutely unique and inherently belong to that particular anonymous person. However, contrary to the classic photo of a face, with these 'back of the head' photos, there's nothing to label or classify. In this way Anouk gets rid of the social borders between people; an image for the future. For Anouk, photos are much more than a few pictures of something from the real world. She makes use of photos in sculpture, videos, performances or for an installation. In this way she reflects upon topical matters in the world in which she lives. She lives and works alternately in Mexico City, Amsterdam and New York.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

The colorful wall is so conspicuous against the bright green surroundings. That must have been quite a job to place all those pictures of heads on that wall. Quite interesting Cornelius.

As odd as it may seem I quite like the idea of shooting someone from behind...I have a cropped one in my gallery called Curls and have often seen people on the street where I thought it would make an interesting idea to capture them from the back...quite a display here...thanks for sharing, SEA.

At first I though those were your photo joined together when you said "a series of photographs that were taken by me" I am still impressed with capture, very intriguing.

Strange, but interesting. Maybe not in the right place? I love the landscape without fences. :)

Maybe the photographer was a fan of Rene Magritte? Reading your post I do like her concept of the use of photographs in other mediums and how they can remove socio and political boundaries. True art. Very nice.
