Perhaps the old saying "What's learned in the cradle, lasts till the tomb", comes true for this boy.

Image was taken on June 30th, 2018, in Arnemuiden, a village with a maritime/fishermen history, in Zeeland, The Netherlands.

PS: I can't be on Caedes the coming days because of some medical checks in the hospital. I hope to be back on Friday night, July 6th.

Like to use the opportunity to wish my U.S.A. friends a Happy Independence Day on July 4th.

My thoughts will be with you Mr. C. for a good report/results on the check ups. This image sure tells a good story, and makes me think this is the start of something for this lad as he grows to adulthood. tigs=^..^=

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Very nice shot of the ship and the young fellow as you say learning the "tricks of the trade". Best of luck in your medical check up Cornelius.

Wishing you the best in those medical checks Mr. C. - this is a lovely shot of the curious boy - it's too bad we sometimes lose that enthusiasm and curiosity as adults.

That's quite a jump from the tiny inflatable the boy is standing in to the fishing boat looming over him. One could sit and stare at this one for a long time, considering the uses of every boom and cable, every ladder and hook, every rail and electronic device. I sometimes see bilge pumps running on craft moored in a harbor like this. Do you know if the bilge takes on water through small leaks that cannot be repaired until drydocking?

In reply of 'Nik's comment above: even though the ship's hull doesn't have any leaks, water nevertheless enters the ship due to e.g. condensation (such as in a refrigerator). In the past, this water was pumped away without any restrictions. Because of more stringent environmental rules, this is my country no longer allowed. Before the bilge water is pumped out, it must be cleaned with filters and / or separators.
