This capture was taken on April 16th, 2022 in Mechelen (Mechlin) in Flandres, Belgium, and it shows the Mechelen City Hall. This City Hall, being a Gothic gem, was built from 1320-1326, and is located on the Grote Markt, (the big square of the city). It's one of Belgium's first city halls to ever be built.

PS: remarkable is that three different styles of architecture are united in one building.

I live in California where an old building is one that was built in the 1950's and an ornate structure is the neon sign in front of McDonald's. My sister in law is from the Netherlands. Belgium is right behind. My passport photo is being taken tomorrow. Can I sleep in your guest room?

I agree with Roger about the age of the building - in a "young" country such as mine this seems amazing and beautiful Mr. C.

From a time when money was not as critical a consideration as it is today, when a jaw-dropping response to the opulence and dignity of an edifice reflected its importance to the community. That's why it's extremely rare to see a structure that even comes close to this in the United States. Art Deco civic buildings and Victorian-era homes might be the exception. This, to me, is definitely jaw-dropping, both the structure as well as the photograph.
