In the past I've provided you with some pictures of murals as seen in some towns in Zeeland, The Netherlands.

During the photo shoot in Mechelen, Belgium, it could be seen that there were also murals.

Due to time constraints, only a few could of them could be photographed.

The murals in the city of Mechelen were the result of an art festival called 'Mechelen Muurt' (Mechelen is busy making murals). The depicted mural in downtown Mechelen is created by Rita Jeltsch and is called 'Viswijven' (Fish Wives)

Rita Jeltsch was born in Los Angeles as daughter of Swiss parents. Since 2008 she lives in Mechelen.

Quite an illusion Rita Jeltsch has created with this mural. Are the fish wives in the aquarium or on the other side seen through the aquarium? These ladies seem to be with the aquarium's residents and in the bowl, yet their drinks maintain their integrity. Great art and thought provoking.

An interesting mural. I'm sure you would need n art student to tell the whole story behind this. It grabs your attention and you get to make your own story behind it.

What a wonderful talent the artist has - and it is perfectly portrayed by you :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

As someone who is friends with a nationally known American muralist (so I understand how some muralists think), and as a classically trained artist myself, I absolutely love the heavily graphic but still fringing on fine art characteristic of this work. Hell, there is even a Picasso-esque fish in there (then again, I suppose it could be a flounder, with both eyes on the same side of its head). Ms. Jeltsch is displaying not only a strong talent for descriptive illustration, but also a healthy sense of satire. Love it. Love it. Love it. (And faved, of course)
