This is a beautiful shot of a natural stratigraphic column (in the flesh, so to speak), but I'd be interested in knowing where and when it was taken. Those angled lines of strata are a textbook illustration of how mountains are formed and how our planet has been undergoing a snail's-pace "kneading" for billions of years. Some of the lines seen here could easily have been the bed of an ancient sea and contain marine fossils. Excellent capture.
