Mountain side in Banff National Park, Alberta. I like the miniature effect of the pines. Note the frozen waterfall in the bottom left corner.

I can tell I watched too much television as a child. In the old B&W superman, there was an episode where someone had figured out that Clark Kent was Superman and was going to try and blackmail him. Superman brought him up to this remote mountain and told him he would bring him supplies, but that he was stuck there. This place with the trees reminds me of that. The guy tries to climb down the mountain and falls to his death. Great capture!

I like how even though there's snow here, one can still see the angle of the strata, illustrating that mountains are mainly upheavals of ancient layers of deposited soils, very often actually sea beds. And you're right about the trees; without them we wouldn't have much to determine scale here. Excellent photo and vertical ice cube tray.

If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.

I too love the way the miniture trees really show you the scale of the mountain.
