A view from Şirince a touristic village near Ephesus, İzmir. Famous about cute houses and wines. This pretty old (500 BC) village, 12 km away from Ephesus was once Çirkince; 'ugly'. Indeed its habitants gave this name on purpose as they did not want to be bothered by foreigners nor to share the beauties of their village. After years, visitors understood that the village was not ugly at all and called it Şirince; 'charming'. This village is very near to Virgin Mary's House close to Ephesus. The village is on top of a mountain at 330 m. When I visit this sunday it was too hot, 36 degrees Celcius. Tanju

Yesterday I commented: "When I see this image, think the village of Şirince has a very appropriate name."
This time not an image of a single house, but one of this village. Makes very clear that I was right with my yesterday's comment.
Wonderful post Tanju.
Regards, Cornelius.

Hi Tanju!

It really seems a very agreeable place to live! I like very much the angle you use in this photo, nice composition and good clarity, wich is the temperature in this place and how many meters above sea level?

The houses certainly are cute. And I'm sure the wines are divine. Another fabulous view of your beautiful country, Tanju.

I like the way that all the houses have a view, with nobody being obscured by the house in front.

Really don't blame the people of this village for wanting to keep the tourists away, as it's so beautiful. Sometimes that changes when too many visitors keep coming, but it sure looks likes it hasn't spoiled anything yet.Nicely done.

These houses are very much like the old Bulgarian houses from the Revival... They carry the spirit of history and tradition, which unfortunately lacking in contemporary societies.
