It was a dull day and I was trying to take highkey shots of this men who was busy at collecting a special kind of mussel by a paddle and chest. Suddenly this gull hopped and dived into the water to get some food. I was lucky to press the shutter just in time.

What timing on this one, how unique, and I like the high key feel.

We were lucky that you pressed the shutter just in time. Grand capture, simplicity with stark contrasts, reflection adds a lot, this is superb. Favorite.

Tanju, although probably taken in difficult conditions, the result is wonderful. The high-key effect makes that all the attention has to be payed to the subject matter. A proper thought, perfectly realized by you!

Not a good day to be a mussel. :-)

I think this shot is brilliant -- even the title is well-judged. If this photograph showed everything... sea and sky in their natural colours... it might not have had such an effect.

Adding this to my favourites.

Sometimes we come upon just the right moment for an awesome shot and I believe you did here. Reminds me of a negative space image I saw once. It's great work!

Gulls are some of the more fearless birds, seldom bothered by the proximity of humans. In January we were visiting our kids on the Gulf coast, and the gulls there went about their business in the same manner. There, however, the mussel hunters were all staying dry, out of the water. Your timing was impeccable... patience with a subject can sometimes pay big dividends.
