Having been an artist for about 53 of my 63 years, I cannot let this one go without some info on the art, place and artist (btw, Ted, a gorgeous shot and artwork, thank you). So I Googled the Centre and found that there are 5 pieces of native art there, a painting, a carved whorl (shaped like the whorl of lines in your fingerprints), and three totem poles, of this is the Family Pole: "The centre pole is located in the Totem Prefunction and was carved by well-known BC artist Tony Hunt. The 25-foot red cedar pole incorporates the Hunt family crests: on top, Dwawina, the Raven, then Sisiutl, the double-headed serpent, then Nanis, the great grizzly bear holding a halibut. Between the serpent's two heads is a human figure. In times past, a pole such as this would be set in front of a dwelling to visitors what family lived there." For more information about the art follow this link.
