This morning I experienced a total eclipse for the first time. I had experienced a partial eclipse back in 1979, but this was my first total eclipse of the sun. Here's a shot (with eclipse filter to prevent sensor burnout) at almost totality. Everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon. High desert, rural Jefferson County, Oregon, USA.

Good shot, Ted. I knew you were in the totality so I figured we'd be seeing one from you. We had about 85% here in North Dakota. I could feel the temperature drop a little, it wasn't as bright as an hour before, and my viewer showed a total coverage of almost exactly what you're showing us here. The only difference is that the crescent had both its horns pointing downward. I was going to dig out the solar filter I have for my 5" reflector telescope but it's so buried I gave up, knowing others would be getting even better images anyway. Thanks for shooting and sharing this.

We got 85 percent coverage down here. I got a few shots while the sun was semi obstructed by clouds but overall, it wasn't as spectacular as it was in South Carolina. I was also singing that song in my head this morning "And sun is eclipsed by the moon. . . "
