Winged Victory of Samathrace in the Musee du Louvre is one of the most famous sculptures in the world. Usually, one sees photos of it from the front, which is a little more dramatic, but I kinda like this angle, too. Paris, France; September, 2015.

Alas, it appears being so famous has gone to her head. I too, like this angle. It goes quite well with the architecture, and your composition forces the curve of that alcove to rise and sweep right to where her head would be, almost as though it was the reason she's missing her happy, smiling face. Excellent, Ted (I know I keep saying that but so many of your submissions are just that).

I really like the angle of this one, different and great results. Very well composed, and superb monotones. Great challenge entry, kudos my friend. tigs=^..^=

Oh my goodness, what a spectacular composition, stunning, excellent light, details. I am literally going out the door for a trip and when viewing this I had to write my comment. I have seen this in Paris, and have been to Samothrace where they have a copy (?) not sure of the right word. Favorite for me, you have really outdone yourself on this one. Bravo!

I think this is a great angle and it actually helps to give some idea of just how large this sculpture is. You have captured great detail in the folds of the draped clothes. How beautiful she is,ever with parts missing.
Thank you for sharing this marvel with us. I have seen it in person, and this reminds me of the wonder of seeing it.
Will add to the BWC list now

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
