When I was nineteen or twenty... maybe. A great action shot, Ted. Lightening an object can be a challenge, to keep the surrounding area in its original contrast, so you don't get a halo effect. When I need to lighten an object like these sails, I make a second copy of the entire image and lighten the sails in that one. Then I whiten the area around the sails and conduct a very tight magnetic capture, pasting it over the sails on the original. Voila! Lighter sails and no halo (and no way anyone knows I did it ;o)
