Verticals just fine for this type of image Jen..Like the transparency of the water looks like a polariser has been used..If not, you've done well to manage it.The only criticism here is the blown highlights on the rocks..Shadow highlight in PS,Would fix that..Like this one..R.

Have to agree with Richie, this looks wonderful and also like the colours & the gorgeous scenery, plus textures of the rivers bottom

I haven't seen the other yet but it will have to go some to be better then this one WC. It looks like a cool place to sit in the water. Gus McCrae would have loved taking a bath there.
I like the vertical very much.

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

Jen - While both photos are excellent, I think this vertical view has more visual impact. FIlters to capture the river bed that disappears from view up the hill, with the red rocks in the background makes a very pretty scene. Well done! Thad

I prefer this one, the vertical orientation leads the eye through the scene. I think the horizontal shot tends to have the eye linger in the foreground a bit too long. Good color and detail, but the highlights looks like they have a bit too much "pop" to them. Maybe pull the high right corner down ever so slightly in Curves?

Same wonderful perspective and colour but some how the portrait mode suits it better as it draws your eye up and through the picture.

I always prefer a Vertical Landscape!...and this is a dandy!...

the stream leads the eye to the mountain in the distance, where'as the letterbox landscape has too much 'waste' (if that is the word!...

Good to be able to compare both!...

---I'm curious as to which image you prefer---

Hard to say Jen, as it's a matter of taste. I prefer however this one as your well chosen cropping has enhanced the composition to me. Very well done!

For me this is better then other one, Jen. Great clearity of water and very beautiful colors of mountains. I don't agree about landscape format is better. Though in Caedes as I can see most users prefer landscape and give less points to portraits on voting booth but sometimes portrait mode may be better. Just on the case as this one. Well done!

Jen, I like this photo best. The look of the water leading to the hill shows better this way. Excellent.
