I've had it in mind to do something like this for ages and never got round to it. You got a nice black background and good light on the peppers with everything in focus. Good idea to limit the colours to just yellow and orange, and to use a panorama. It all works well.
Well, Emily, looks like this one is a crowd pleaser. You did a really great job isolating the subject with both the black background and the pano type presentation. Well focused too.
Got a lil' jiggy on the creative side as well in the above rework, for lack of a better term. Of more importance and pertinence though, is the compositional changes. And then add in the Levels and Curves adjustments.
/\ Caveats ... hope you don't mind.
For me personally, the disembodied free floating presentation ... as my eyes see your original ... needed a tad of an assist compositionally. And again, the other post processing adjustments to bring out some more of the detail of the pepper stems and central portions. Seemed to provide better visual balance.
I can clearly see the delineation of the three colours. Well done on capturing the colours quite naturally. No surprise to you, I suspect, that red is indeed a challenge.
And a good on you, insofar as the specular highlights are concerned.
As well, if you are interested ... uploaded an WinRAR file that contains a couple more versions and the .psd file (CS2 Photoshop) ... here. Less than 30 Mb., and the download speeds are quite good ... so, shouldn't take that long for you to download and see what was done. Including my, er ... goofs, lol.
Nice shot. If you were to adjust the placement of the peppers alone ... it would kick your photo up more so. In my humble opinion, of course.
